Phytrix is cooperating with a network of top-level scientific institutions to achieve the following objectives:

  • Characterization and specification of the raw material: This is done through sophisticated state-of-the-art analyses of bioactive ingredients of the plant, and through DNA-analytical approaches standardizing the identity of the plant (genetic fingerprints).

  • Mode of action and different disease targets: Through pharmacological, molecular biological and biophysical approaches in vitro as well as through specific animal models different disease targets and mechanisms of actions for each product are evaluated.  One objective is to identify parameters helpful to specify clinical endpoints for the clinical trials.

  • Toxicology: Especially for PTX 111, state-of-the-art toxicity studies (acute and sub-chronic in different animal species) have been carried out.
